Marbella hosts Davis Cup 2-4 February
The first round clash of the Davis Cup World between Spain and Great Britain will be played on Marbella's Golden Mile at the Puente Romano hotel. Its clay surface is said to favour the Spanish team's style of play, as is the mild winter climate on the coast.
The Puente Romano has hosted the Davis Cup before, in 1989, when Spain played Mexico. The last time the competition was in the resort was in 2009, when the old Puerto Banús bullring was used. Stands will be put up so 8,500 spectators can attend this venue.
