We ensure our nurses, doctors and research teams can provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world. From funding state-of-the-art equipment and groundbreaking research, to creating the very best patient environments, we will never stop looking for ways to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.
Having been diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2019 and after having chemo I was advised the long term prognosis wasn't good and I was looking to have major surgery to have a stoma bag fitted which was devastating so I decided to get a second opinion.
Thank god I did!!!
After researching specialist consultants, I found Prof Alan Thompson at the Royal Marsden in London. I cannot say how amazing he and his team have been from the outset as he put me at ease straight away and explained everything in detail and then set me on a different course of treatment that best suited the cancer I had. I am extremely pleased to say that I am now cancer free and in remission for the last year.
Myself, Andy, Nick, Mark and Simon are taking on the challenge of a mountain bike trail of 225 miles over 4 days starting and then ending back in Winchester - Kings Alfreds Way. I am doing this bike ride with some amazing guys to raise funds for this world renowned hospital who I owe my life too!
